| October 5 marks the 40th anniversary of the debut of those surrealist geniuses collectively known as Monty Python's Flying Circus. The original series ran for only four series but, thanks to a host of films, albums, books and God-knows what else, they remain as relevant, ground-breaking and, yes, funny as they ever did. It's not for nothing that their influence on comedy has been compared to The Beatles' contribution to music and that the word "Pythonesque" has entered the English lexicon as a result.
