Shane Acker's animated sci-fi thriller is based on his Oscar-nominated 2005 short film of the same name. Produced in part by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, it is little suprise that the feature boasts stunning visuals and explores serious themes of war and survival in a highly creative way.

After a scientist's radical invention goes awry, a war breaks out between man and machine. Hoping to preserve humanity's legacy, the scientist creates a set of nine numbered ragdoll-like stitchpunks and brings them to life by transferring his soul into each of them. When 9 first comes to life, he awakens to a post-apocalyptic world and after dicovering a small community of others like him, he leads them through a hostile land to try to preserve the future of civilization.
