A really absorbing film which captures your attention from the first frame. The story of Jamil, Salim and Latika unfolds as a result of Jamil being accused of cheating on the tv quiz show when his winnings stand at 10 million ruppees. How does he know the answers when he has little education and comes from the slums? Questioned by the police inspector he tells his life story one which reflects the hard reality of living in the slums of Mumbai and will make you both laugh and cry. There are some scenes of violence but no bad language. The three young actors who play the the main characters from childhood to adult are well cast and the change from one stage to the other is really smooth. Danny Boyles direction is excellent well worth the ticket price. |
