Kale is 17 and his father has just been killed in a tragic accident. He refuses to come to terms with his grief and ends up under house arrest, while his mother works night and day to support them. Bored at home, alone, Kale takes to spying upon his neighbours. He begins to suspect one neighbour of being a serial killer, however, has very little evidence to prove it and no way of collecting any... Can he save his home town, or is it all in his imagination?

Total Film - Jamie Graham | Screenrush Barometer: |
| "The teen support cast are vacuous and director DJ Caruso strays a little too far into Grand Guignol territory for the over-extended climax, but Disturbia's otherwise bang on the money: $80m at the US box-office was no fluke."
|
| Sight & Sound - Anna Smith | Screenrush Barometer: |
| "Disturbia is not a sophisticated thriller at the level of basic plot structure, but its witty script, engaging themes and knack for suspense elevate it above many of its contemporaries." |
