Ong Bak - The Beginning

This epic tale follows Tien as he seeks revenge for the murder of his parents when he was a kid. Captured by a group of thieves, he is taught to steal and fight before eventually moving up to the rank of head thief. One day he hears of a competition to serve as a knight for the man who killed his parents, Lord Rachasana. Tien passes the test but will need to use all his skills to exact revenge.

'The fights are stunning, the narrative thin and repetitive, the characterisation perfunctorily functional.'

'Jaa's period ?beatquel' is thick on action but thin on plot. Awesome final fight, though.'

The film's a bizarre hybrid between "Apocalypto" and "Rambo IV" set in 15th Century Thailand. Could have been better though, but, i'm a Fan of Tony Jaa, A worthy predecessor to the crowns that Bruce Lee, Yuen Biao, Jet Li and Jackie Chan have worn over the years.
