Set in Iraq during the current crisis, the members of an elite army bomb disposal squad are forced to make safe a city where everyone is a potential suspect and even the most innocous of objects could be a deadly explosive device. What makes their situation even more precarious is a new addition to their team who seemingly has a death wish. |

Religion stops filming | Part of the shooting took place during the Muslim month of Ramadan and non-Muslim crew members hid out in hotels with windows covered by carpets out of respect - and per the Jordanian law. |
More on-set injuries | A group of Iraqi refugees who were hired as extras were injured after the production bus they were travelling in overturned on a road. Nobody was seriously injured, although one person was reported to have a broken nose. |
On-set injuries | Actor Jeremy Renner tripped and fell down some stairs while carrying an Iraqi boy on the film's set. Subsequently, shooting was stopped for several days while his ankle healed. |
Filming locations | It may look like Iraq but the production was actually all filmed in Amman, Jordan. | More Trivia... |

The Sun - The Sneak | Screenrush Barometer: |
| 'What pushes The Hurt Locker up to top marks is the absence of politics. This is the first Iraq War movie not trying to make a point about the legitimacy of the conflict, which is a blessed relief.' |
| The Guardian - Peter Bradshaw | Screenrush Barometer: |
| 'the best and most insightful anti-war film about Iraq ... [a] blazingly powerful action movie whose unpretentious clarity makes for a refreshing change' |
