The comedy follows the exploits of a Mossad agent who fakes his death so he can anonymously move to New York and become a hair stylist. The 'special services' which he gives his clients in the salon's back room soon attracts a large crowd of customers, who comment "Well, the sex is good, and the haircut isn't bad either." But things go awry when he is recognised by a former enemy, who soon becomes determined to kill him.

The Independent on Sunday - Jonathan Romney | Screenrush Barometer: |
| "Bearing in mind that it sounds like the most disastrous comedy concept in cinema history, it's remarkable how easily 'Don't Mess with the Zohan turns its contentious subject matter into feel-good fun." |
| New York Times - A.O. Scott | Screenrush Barometer: |
| "'Subtle' and 'maturity' may seem like odd words to use about a movie that wrings big laughs from pelvic gyrations, indoor Hacky Sack and filthy-sounding fake Hebrew and Arabic words. But much as it revels in its own infantilism, 'You Don't Mess With the Zohan' is also brazenly self-confident in its refusal to pander to the imagined sensitivity of its audience." |
