Plot Synopsis

In the first part of Stephenie Meyer's phenomenally successful gothic-romance novels, Twilight re-tells that age-old story - vampire meets girl, vampire falls in love with girl, vampire tries not to drink girl's blood - in a new and stylish fashion. The story picks up as Bella Swan arrives in the drizzly town of Forks, Washington, to live with her sheriff father. She swiftly adapts to high-school life and even makes a few friends along the way but her affinity for life's outsiders is piqued when she meets the mysterious Cullen clan and, especially, the enigmatic Edward. Despite a mutual attraction, it soon, transpires that Edward is actually a 108-year-old vampire - will his desire for Bella's blood stop their burgeoning romance from coming to fruition?
