Plot Synopsis

16 year-old Darren Shan is a typical lad who is bored with his small-town existence, so when he and a friend get wind of a mysterious travelling freak show, they decide to visit and Darren's life is changed forever - well, to be exact, his life ends as he takes a charismatic up on an offer of an eternity with the undead. Now a bloodsucker himself, Darren joins the Cirque du Freak alongside other sideshow oddities such as a snake boy, a wolfman and a bearded lady.

Screenrush Barometer:

'Reilly's terrific as the bloodsucker who's lost his zest for death, and there's further quality from supporting freaks Ken Watanabe, Willem Dafoe and bearded lady Salma Hayek.'

Screenrush Barometer:

'A talented ensemble helps this pull through despite a leaden lead, but it may still seem too childish for adults and too adult for kids.'
