Donnie Darko is unlike other 16 year old boys. Intelligent and in possession of an active imagination, he creates Frank, a creature who only he can see and hear.

When Donnie miraculously survives an accident, Frank proposes a strange idea to him. He says that the end of the world is approaching and that Donnie must quickly fulfil his destiny. Strange events are to follow in the little peaceful town and Donnie knows about the unspeakable hidden secrets that lie behind closed doors.
