The Time Traveler's Wife

A Chicago librarian has a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel involuntarily when he's stressed. Trying to cope with his condition and long bouts of absence, he develops a relationship with an artist whom he meets at various points in her life.

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt made headlines when they bought the film rights to Niffenegger's novel before it was released to the public.

After shooting the film, Eric Bana went on to film Star Trek, a role which required him to shave his head. However, re-shoots for The Time Traveler's Wife were needed, but production was put on hold so Eric's hair could grow out. It took so long that the movie's release date was pushed back for nearly a year.

'Hold the sick bags. Drop the hankies. And stow the cynicism. For, despite the saccharine trailer and the icky tear-jerking pedigree, The Time Traveler's Wife is actually a movie of some substance.'

'Do we believe? Almost, but not quite. Even so, this is a decent romance, which tries its best not to go as soggy as Ghost at the end.'

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Very true to the book. Very heart-warming. Good acting. Need to take your tissues with you! Advise - read book beforehand.

What a disappointing movie! The book is marvellous with wonderful characters that come to life on the page. I was so thrilled that the film had been made that I was at the first possible showing in my local cinema on 14 August.
