    Life is no picnic for ants on Ant Island! Every single summer, a greedy gang of green grasshoppers, led by the menacing Hopper, - descend on the colony and demand a huge portion of the ants' harvest. They make life miserable for this peaceful community, but Flik, an original thinking ant out of step with the rest of the more traditionally minded colony, takes it upon himself to get help. He enlists the aid of an unemployed troupe of bug performers from a second-rate flea circus, who are to join the fight against the grasshoppers. Working together in their new-found friendship, the ants and the circus bugs prepare for a climactic confrontation with the grasshoppers. When Flik's plan starts to unravel he has to do everything in his power to save the colony and his reputation.
