As a means of escaping his mundane waking life in a small conservative South Carolina town, 17-year-old Ethan Wate is beginning to have crazy reoccurring dreams. His world suddenly changes one day, however, when the beautiful and strange Lena Duchannes shows up. While Ethan is immediately mesmerized by the newcomer, others are more wary…and rightly so. In fact, Lena possess magic powers -- powers which can be used for both good and evil -- and she has yet to learn how to control them.
