Columbia is moving ahead with plans on a second instalment of
Ghost Rider.
Nicolas Cage is expected to star in the sequel with
Blade scribe
David Goyer in talks with the studio to develop the story and supervise writers. Although Goyer is not officially attached, according to
Variety, the sequel would be based on the script he had written years earlier.
A few months ago, Nicolas Cage talked with
MTV about the possibility of a sequel, "I would like to do a re-conceive. I would like to go in a whole other direction, and I think that's what they're talking about. I would make it much less of a Western and more of an international story."
Marvel characters have been on the move since Disney's $4 Billion acquisition.
The Fantastic Four is getting a reboot from Fox - who have also been keeping quiet on the development of a
Daredevil reboot - as well as a
Silver Surfer film.
Studios are keen to keep hold of their Marvel Characters. If the properties atrophy, Marvel Entertainment can reclaim them, as was the case with
Iron Man at New Line which Marvel reclaimed and turned into an in-house blockbuster.
