Natalie Portman is particularly hot-property at the moment. Audiences are still reeling from screenings of
Black Swan, at the Venice and Telluride film fesitvals last week, and offers are flooding in. According to the
Hollywood Reporter, and following months of deliberation during which
Angelina Jolie,
Blake Lively and
Scarlett Johansson were all considered, Portman has been approached for the lead role in
Gravity, a psychological thriller co-written by
Alfonso Cuarón and
Jonás CuarónIf Portman accepts the offer she will play the lead in the epic survial story, in which a woman is stranded on a space station after satellite debris wipes out the rest of her crew. The solitary ordeal similar to those endured in
Solaris or
Moon will be an emotionally demanding role to portray, Cuaron must be assured that Portman has the capability after her performace in Black Swan.
Robert Downey Jr. has already committed to a supporting role and with filming for the $80 million 3D survial story is due to start in January, we're hoping Portman is impressed by the script and Cuaron finally has his leading lady confirmed.
