Tom Hanks On Board For Bigelow’s Latest

01 December 2010 - News - Celebrities

Hanks has committed to The Hurt Locker director’s next project Sleeping Dogs

We let slip back in October that Tom Hanks was considering following his role in Larry Crowne with a part in the new Kathryn Bigelow film Sleeping Dogs (also referred to as Triple Frontier), and it’s now become official with Coming soon has been talking to producer Charles Roven who confirmed that Hanks HAS signed on to star in the movie.

The Oscar winning director has chosen to follow The Hurt Locker with an ensemble piece set in the violent border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil (hence Triple Frontier), a notorious hotspot for organized crime. It’s not the first place we imagine Hanks popping up, he seems a little old to be running around in the rainforest but he’s no doubt courting the attention that Bigelow’s last star Jeremy Renner received for his part in the intense look at a bomb disposal unit based in Iraq.

The film should start shooting (presumably not in the danger zone itself) at the beginning of March 2011. Be it frontiers or dogs, we’ll keep our ears to the ground and let you know who’ll be joining Hanks in the borderlands.
