Kristen Wiig Toplines Oscar Winning Writers' New Action Comedy

Both The Descendants and Bridesmaids feature TV comedy talent who've sat down to write a screenplay and taken the big-screen by storm, and now the Oscar winning names behind the first film are teaming up with the Oscar nominated writer/star of the second for an action comedy. This news shouldn't really come as any surprise as Community star Jim Rash and Nat Faxon (who co-wrote the George Clooney vehicle alongside director Alexander Payne) go way back with SNL star Kristen Wiig, having cut their teeth together in LA based improv-comedy troupe The Groundlings, but it's certainly something to look forward to now the writers - according to Variety - have sold their untitled pitch with Wiig firmly attached.

Not that the pair are resting on their laurels, they're down to direct their own 2007 script entitled The Way, Way Back which we thought Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in but which Empire believes will feature Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney... either way, we'll keep you informed as soon as further news comes in.
