Veteran actors try to rekindle the flame in The Devil Wears Prada director's new film, Hope Springs
After her Oscar winning portrayal as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, Meryl Streep has gone back to doing lighter and more humorous roles. She will be reunited with The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel for this new marriage counselling film Hope Springs with co-stars Tommy Lee Jones as Streep’s rather grouchy husband and Steve Carell as a quirky marriage expert. The trailer has been released on Moviefone. Streep and Jones play Maeve and Arnold Soames, a couple celebrating their 31st year together, whose marriage has hit a pretty bad rut. Streep decides to do something about it. In comes Carrel’s Dr Bernie Field, a quirky marriage counsellor to the rescue. The couple go on a week’s retreat and try to find the spark that got them together. The trailer practically shows us the whole film, but it looks nice enough in a rom-com involving a more mature generation than we're accustomed to seeing getting it on onscreen. It will be interesting to see how Jones and Street play alongside one another and it does have comic potential. Hope Springs is set for a January 2013 but that could be pushed back a month, one for next year’s valentine’s season maybe? Anything can be better than Valentine's Day! Catch the trailer here...
