Hugh Jackman and Jean Valjean square off in the newest posters for the revolutionary musical drama based off Victor Hugo’s 19th century romantic tale

With still a few months to go before the UK release of Tom Hooper's cinematic adaptation of Victor Hugo's epic novel Les Misérables, Universal Pictures has teased us with a couple of character posters of the film’s heavyweight rivals. Obviously the shot of a shaggy-haired, scruffy-faced Hugh Jackman was captured moments after Frenchman Jean Valjean’s recent release from prison (before he got the chance to go for a shave and a haircut), which is reinforced with the powerful tagline proclaiming ‘Freedom is Mine!’ Meanwhile, an apprehensive furrow-browed Russell Crowe sporting a symbolically patriotic fleur-de-lys embroidered lapel portrays Inspector Javert in the second poster. Les Misérables will be hitting US cinemas on Christmas day, while British audiences will have to wait until January 11th.
