Jeremy Renner To Star In True CIA Scandal Story

The thrill seeking actor will play an investigative journalist in Michael Cuesta's drama, Kill The Messenger

The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner has been bitten by the thriller bug as is evidenced by his recent decision to star in and produce the upcoming journalism drama Kill The Messenger. Penned by Peter Landesman, the script is based off of investigative journalist Gary Webb’s account of the CIA’s involvement in the spread of crack cocaine in LA. His controversial claims—many of which have since been validated—lead to the demise of his career and eventually to his tragic death. Michael Cuesta is to direct the project, which is no surprise given his track record as director of several episodes from critically acclaimed suspense-driven shows Homeland, Dexter, and True Blood. Renner will next be seen acting alongside Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper in an untitled political corruption project by David O. Russell.
