24 To End?

The action-packed series 24 may be coming to rather abrupt halt at the end of its current season. Executives have yet to make any official comments, but with the show losing viewership (down 10% in this eighth season) and expenses mounting, it seems likely that Kiefer Sutherland and his various adventures will be coming to an end.

For 24 fans there is still some hope that a big-screen feature of the series will be coming to fruition. The film would spread a full day out over two hours and most likely be penned by Billy Ray (State Of Play, Suspect Zero) and set in Europe. However, with viewer interest lacking and the estimated millions it would take to create a film as action-packed as the series, this fate is still uncertain.

While a ninth season of the show has still not been entirely ruled out, it seems as though the franchise might be more successful moving to the big screen. Either way, this means Jack Bauer will likely have to live through the end of the season to be able to progress. While executives have always said that his death was a high possibility, it would be a shame to see one of television's scrappiest badasses finally fall.
