More Bad News From The Set Of Community As Chevy Chase Finally Departs

After four years of complaining about the hours, the working conditions, the storylines, the writers, sitcoms in general and his fellow cast members, Chevy Chase has finally quit (or been thrown off) embattled NBC sitcom Community. The cult fan favourite has had a tough time of it in 2012 which started off with the show on an unexplained and indefinite hiatus. NBC finally brought the show back after fans organised flashmobs and online protests (#sixseasonsandamovie) but it wasn't long before show creator Dan Harmon announced that he was leaving the show and new executive producers had been appointed to deliver NBC's thirteen episode season four order and that wasn't it. The next disappointment for fans was its removal from the fall schedule and the delayed announcement that it would finally return to screens in February... it's hard to say how the writers are going to handle Chase's sudden and immediate departure given that all but two episodes of the season (including the two part finale) are in the can but knowing Community they'll do it with flair, irony and a whole lot of meta. Here's hoping that the show - which is one of our favourites - can reach close to the peaks of its amazing first season and that Pierce's absence doesn't leave too huge a hole in Jeff's study group.
